I would like to welcome Michael Cutsforth to the forum. Michael is a good friend of mine and a great soundman for a steel player. He makes steels sound like steels live and in the studio.

Mike is a MASTER at reaching into the mix and making it alive, from 0 to 20k....and everywhere in between. He really does know how to make the tone of the steel sound like it should, and is a true friend of the steel player!

Thanks guys. I am truly humbled.
There is no big trick to getting steels to sound great live. Start with Mark Wayne, Roger Miller, Harrison Lange, and Glenn Runnels. Mix until cool. Add steel to taste. Serves 400 - 40,000.
All the nice things being said about me I must be in the wrong place. Even my mom is talking to me. Musta been a better show than I thought!
Personally, I think what makes the Dairy Jam so cool is the fact that we are in a more intimate setting and literally inches from the players. There is a level of comraderie and friendship that is hard to equal as a result. I always leave that show feeling like I just made ten new friends. Actually, knowing I did.
Joe Wright, Don Helms, Dan Hullihen, Rob parker.... just incredible! You are artists and gentlemen, two rare things in this world. Thanks for making our lives easy at the show and richer for your company.

Welcome to the Forum "ol buddy". I'm sitting here listening to the 2006 Dairy Jam CD. Along with the fine production work you do at the show, I want to thank you for the job you did in producing this compilation of players from last years show.

Also a quick thanks to Craig for making it available.

I'm wondering if you actually have a "jitter- override" slider added on to your system.
You and your crew made each and every player at the show sound their best.....Bill

Bill, I'm glad you're enjoying the CD. I'm usually sick to death of a project once it's done but this one has kept me listening. I'm very proud of it, and I hope all the guys like it as well as I do. Haven't listened to this years' takes yet but I'm sure we got some great stuff.

As far as "jitter over-ride", it kills me how nervous all the players get! I've never heard anyone at these Midwest shows make an unkind remark or be anything but supportive toward the other players. It's just a matter of doin' what ya do and damn the torpedoes. Everyone always seems to take something from everyone else's set that they like, and that's the cool part. I understand the nerves, but at this point it's all family. Just have fun.
