| I'm working on a MSA Vintage XL for a friend and we may want to change one pickup. How do the pickups fasten to the mounting plate? There are no screws showing from the top and I don't want to take it apart just to find out. |

| Danny, there are two screws through the mounting plate up through the bottom center of the pick up.There are no holes on the plate that will line up with the newer pick ups.As far as mounting one of the new pick ups.I just used double face mounting tape (about 1/8" thick.)You can cut a couple squares of it and attach it to the bottom of the new pick up and then to the mounting plate.I have done this and have never had a problem with it coming loose. |

I used standard, wide mount style pickups on the Classic SS shown in my signature. I had to cut a small notch on one side (I think it was only one side, it has been a while) then I drilled new holes in the aluminum mounting plate to match the mounting holes in the pickup. It wasn't too hard and the Bill Lawrence 710's really made it come alive. Mounting them this way still allows you to be able to adjust the height.

| That is kind of what I expected. This guitar has an E66 on the back neck. It must evidently be glued to the mounting plate. The front neck has what I believe might be a L 705. Thanks for your help. |
