Hawaii's singing canary, Linda Dela Cruz passed away this morning. She was 77.

Linda is one of the few last female vocalist who sang and played in the traditional Hawaiian way.

Cord International has recently released a CD of Linda with some information spanning her music career. The late great Benny Rogers backs her on steel guitar on a few cuts.

Aloha, Linda

Sad news. I recently bought the Cord International CD (Linda Dela Cruz: Hawaii's Canary). The first 11 tracks, recorded for Bell when Linda was just 16, are among my favorite Hawaiian music. Gorgeous vocals and beautiful steel.

Sad to hear of Linda's passing. I wish I could have seen her perform in the 1950s, when Hawaiian Hula Music was popular. My favorite song that Linda sang is, KE'ALA KA U' I HONI.
