Peavey room at TSGA
Late Saturday afternoon in the "Peavey" room, I saw 3 guys playing some great "Swing" stuff.
There was a fellow on an upright Bass, who did a little singing, and I believe Howard Kalish was on "fiddle".
Who was the steel player? He played a laquer Emmons, super tone, great player, should have been on the "main" stage!

I believe that was Karko Clave (spelling I'll have to check). He's out of Nashville and from what I understand plays regularly around town.

Mike,
The steel player was Carco Claveria. I believe he lives in Nashville and has played with Asleep at the Wheel.
The bass player was David Tanner. Some time ago, he sold his law practice in Indiana and moved to Nashville to pursue music.
Both of them are very talented.

One of the best parts of the show IMHO, I like how he just ran that old guitar straight into the amp, no gizmos.

I thought I recognized David. Too funny. I've seen him at Robert's in N'ville. The steeler who was with him was crazy (in a good way). Played great guitar as well, Chris Casello. The band was Brazilbilly I think. David has a funny song about Effingham. A real crackup. Anyway, below are a couple of links I found. Sorry I missed David at the show. Was outta town pickin.....

Thanks All,
Mr.Claveria is one fine steel picker. It would be nice if one of the "conventions" would find a place for him on their program. He sure picked up some "fans" at the TSGA.
Mr. Tanner is quite a talent also. I look forward to hearing these guys in the future.

Here Carco is playing in the hallway at the hotel sitting on his amp. What a cool player.

That was an intersting jam session in the lounge. I've heard good things about Brazilbilly
