Just wanted to say what a great time Mary and I had at this year's Jamboree. It's such a fine show and a great hang, it's hard to wait a whole year til the next one. There was so much great music it's hard to know where to start; everybody played so well. I was going to list a few players I particularly enjoyed, but the list got too long. I do want to praise the house band for playing long, hard, and good. The band is one of the highlights for me, and as a bass player and fan of fine rhythm guitar, I have to single out Junior Knight and Leon Chambers (who can find harmony notes most of us hear only in our dreams); these guys have that "thing" you find only in Texas. Leon Rausch and the guys played Saturday after the show, with Albert Talley stepping into some BIG shoes and doing a fine job. I can't speak for anyone but me, but always in the back of my mind this year was the empty space left by the absence of Tom Morrell. I'm so glad I got to hear him last year. Thanks to Jody Sanders, Louie Halford and everyone else who shifted set times to enable me to play with Lonnie Bennett and David Wright and still make my flight back to NYC. Can't wait for next year.
