Jude,
It was made by Gibson between 1939-42 for their Mastertone house brand which is probably better known for their banjos. No truss rod and very plain (no binding, etc.). I own one and it sure is sweet. A Gibson HG will set you back $3000+ so these are a bargain. I found mine on eBay several years ago for an unbelievable Buy It Now of $85. One sold on eBay awhile back for around $600 if I recall correctly. |

Thank you. It looks like the quality is about that of some of the Oahu's I've seen. It would make an interesting project to repair this one. Please, someone tell me they're lusting in their heart for this one so I'll not be tempted to bid.

| That looks like a nice instrument, but being that old, I can't really believe it has no wear marks. Re-finished? Not that it matters that much. Thats a big body and should sound good. |

Hey Jude...(sorry, couldn't resist!  )
I think you should go for it. There doesn't seem to be much interest in it bidder-wise. Heck the postage is more than the opening bid! If I wasn't so strapped for cash at the moment, I'd buy it as a wall hanger for the music room! (And maybe tune it down to take some stress off the cracks...) Of course, I'm kinda nutty when it comes to collecting old instruments....(among other things!)
