Can anyone give their views how the acoustic sound of a Weissenborn style guitar would be affected by increasing the body depth from 3 inches to 3.5 or 4 inches.
Would this increase enhance the tone.
And, if the body depth was to be increased to 3.5 or 4 inches, to what height would the neck taper finish at the nut

All ideas & input will be greatly appreciated.

Using Flamed Queensland Walnut for front, back & sides.Building to Stewmac Plan specs.

Thanks,
Pete

Hey Pete,

The extra depth will make a difference to the bass response of a weiss. What wood you use for the top will effect the bass too. Cedar will produce a big sound. Jeff Lang's Churchill weiss is deeper than standard depth. His guitar is Cedar top and Rosewood back and sides.

I have a weiss made from the Stew Mac plans built with a Cedar top, New Guinea Rosewood back and sides with Jarra fretboard and bridge. It has a big sound and standard depth.

I have some wood ready to have a go at making one myself from the Stew Mac plan. We should exchange an email sometime.

I live in Far North Queensland.

Cheers

Alan
