You non-pedal players (and even pedal players) will like this clip of the late Little Roy Wiggins, Mr. Tingaling, playing "The Old Rugged Cross"

Great! Didn't he tune to an E13th similar to Don Helms?

Yes, but Little Roy often had a low E string he used in Steel Guitar Rag...and he did have both necks tuned the same in case he broke a string on the Opry.
It was a pleasure to do his charts for the staff band plus getting to play the bass.

What a sweet sound by a sweet man. I knew Roy for along time before my wife Linda met him. She fell in love with him and his family like I did and we all had some great times together. We miss those times so much. Thanks Bill for another great memory and keep them comin'. Bobby and Linda

Great tribute to a fine steel guitar player, Mr. Roy Wiggins; he and Jerry Byrd were my idols, in the field of steel guitar pickers; They both were instrumental in my endeavors to become a student of this great guitar. Thanks, Bill; it would be nice if you can furnish us with another of Roy's fantastic hits. I especially loved him when he worked with the great Eddie Arnold.. Keep um' coming, Bill..Bernie :P

***** Once again.
I was never very fond of the ting a ling sound even back then. Little Roy could play the Steel as well as Yehudi could play the Violin and send chills up and down your spine. Jay Y.
