Deja Vu is right! Just another crook on E-Bay trying to make money off of people. An article on this piece ran in last weeks local newspaper. The seller himself said he has no concrete proof that it actually belonged to the Princess and that he was searching for people who knew information about it. |

I'm sure your right Derrick, but the facts although not proven, could be as stated, BECAUSE the company Shapland & Petter made high class articles mainly for the European "Upper Crust" and Royalty.
Had I this cabinet, I would research the relatives of the employees of Shapland & Petter in the late 1890's , and check out the documentation from the Princess' Guardian AND her piano teachers. Between all the places she stayed whilst in the UK studying, there MUST be a picture of the music cabinet somewhere.
Whilst the six and a half million price tag is quite fanciful, a more realistic figure wouldn't encourage the research that the seller wants prospective buyers to do for HIM.
How much would a photograph of the princess standing by the cabinet be worth to the seller ? or documentation from a relative of a cabinetmaker who worked on the article ?.
Believe me, a search is underway !! |
