Hello Billy, I am at home now and the Zum is at my shop. Tomorrow, I'll weigh the unit and let you know in pounds.

Hi Billy,
I have a Zum SD-12 here right now, and it's light. I don't know the exact weight (my wife threw out the scale Rolling Eyes ), but it feels a lot lighter than the Sho-Bud LDG SD-10 that is here. The case is a road case and is heavy, so in this case it weighs about the same as the LDG is its lighter wood and tolex case. Sorry for the lack of a specific weight, but after playing the Sho-Bud and an Emmons push-pull, the Zum is very light. At first it felt too light. The pedal action is very light, too.

Hello Billy, I just put my SD10 Zum, 3 pedals 5 levers, on my UPS scale and it shows 51 pounds, guitar, case and leg pouch.

Thanks everyone
Thanks Larry for the actual.
I am picking up a Zum at the Dallas show and was wondering how the airline would react.
I have also purchased a split case from Fred Justice so I think I will be ok weight wise.
Best regards
Billy

Billy, just back from Germany and Holland with my Mullen D10, it is 31.5kgs in case.We travelled Ryanair (one of the worlds worst when it comes to baggage) They and, I believe other Airlines have a prebook system for musical instruments up to 32kgs , paid at a flat rate of £20.50 , and it does not affect your normal checked baggage , could be worth checking out as it is a lot less than the normal excess baggage rates.Malcolm

Billy, I bought a guitar back East last fall. Flew home to AZ and the airline absolutely destroyed the case. I was lucky the guitar made it ok. Make sure its packed well. Standard issue cases do not fly well. Most airlines charge a flat additional fee for anything between 50 and 75 lbs. That'd be great if they took any extra care with it but they don't. Personally I won't fly my guitar again without an actual Flight case or extra protection. Good Luck. BTW thanks to another forum member's post, Cabellas has a nice flight worthy case for $159.00.

Tom,
Thanks for your advice.
I have purchased a split case from Fred Justice which I will also get at the Dallas show. The case looks to be pretty strong.
Unfortunately I have to put my trust in the airline since I am from the other side of the pond.
Best regards
Billy

I saw Fred's split cases at the phoenix show. He makes some really nice well built stuff and I'm sure you will be more than happy with it. If I were you, I'd find some bubble wrap in Dallas and a cardboard box and pack the case and all in that. It might cost $20 - $25 but it's well worth it. Don't trust the airline. That's an awsome guitar your getting and they are hard to come by. Best of luck, enjoy the show and the new guitar!

Check out Greg Cutshaw's site. He's got some really good stuff on shipping amps and steels among a lot of other stuff.
