They don't even sound good for 128K. I have many tracks I've ripped off of CDs and LPs that I've encoded to 128K that sound much better than what I've downloaded from Walmart. If I need to buy a song to learn, I'll get it from Real Networks. They still don't sound great, but they're much better than Walmart. IMHO

My first Walmart download was my last. In order to get the transfer to work I had to accept their "package" that disabled the "audio recoder" in my Win2K installation. How hokey can you get???

I buy Wal-Mart a lot including music. I only have had minor trouble in downloading and the sound is just fine with my downloads.

I'm against the selling of nothing more than a sound file for almost what the song would cost you on a CD. I realize that it's a convenient way to "have" music, but I'm also aware of it's somewhat ephemeral nature. Records that are 50-75 years old are still quite playable. The sound files you "buy" today will probably be unreadable in a couple of decades as the technology to read and store them changes.

At least you can sell an old CD or record on ebay when you're tired of it! Confused

All you can (legally) do with old sound files is delete them! (That's called a "zero-dollar recovery" on your investment.)

Still sound like a good deal to you?

Buying seperate downloads allows me to enjoy songs at a fraction of the cost of purchasing an entire CD.

Since the advent of the computer, there have always been migration paths from one technical generation to the next. This will hold true with sound files, I believe. The quality of the sound may depreciate from age and usage but even there, new technology will find a 'fix'.
