L.A. steel jam dates set.

This year the jam will be a 2 day event so more people will have a chance to play.

There will be a few people who will be invited to play both days, and 10 slots for sign ups for each day. I will keep track of who is signed up for which day. Of course everybody is invited to come and watch both days, regardless of whether or not you're playing

The dates are Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22. Those wishing to participate, pick a day and send me an E-mail.

The jam will be held in the same place as before.

As before, the jam will be at the "El Arco Iris" restaurant, 5684 York Blvd in the Highland Park section of Los Angeles, just off the 110 freeway. As the dates approach I will post directions on the forum, and will also E-mail them to anybody who asks for them.

Two people have signed up already.

Hey Mikey PodXT, I teach that Saturday, so put me down for jammin' on Sunday, amigo. I'm gonna send Big Jim Baron a set list to include songs a little brisker, these things do get draggy at times. Looking forward to seeing everyone again, especially those dedicated AZ boys Billy and Troy!

There are now 3 sign-ups and 7 open slots for each day.

I want to remind everybody that you’re all welcome to attend both days, regardless of whether or not you’re scheduled to play. This is as much about meeting and socializing as it is about playing.

I’m also pleased to announce that Billy Easton from Arizona will be joining us. Billy is a world-class player whose playing will astound and entertain everybody who attends.

I'll second heartily what Mike says about Billy Easton---fabulous player, and a wonderful gentleman. He's also head of the Southwest Steel Guitar Association and does an amazing job putting on that show every year. See you in April, Mr. Easton!

Jim, I think it's better for everybody to be surprised. Suffice to say that most of the pickers who showed up last year will be there, as well as a few new faces.

One player I'm thrilled to say is coming is Blackie Taylor. Blackie has never attended one of these jams before, and I've never had the pleasure of picking with him before, even though we've known each other for nearly 30 years.

It's gonna be a real fun weekend.

As previously mentioned, everybody within driving distance is invited to come and watch and listen and join in the mid afternoon food orgy.
