I'm thinkin in sell my Bennett S-8 due to no use, but I doesn't know what would be a reasonable price.
I received the guitar in january 2002 and was made to my specifications by Ron Bennett.
I think it was one of the few console non-pedal models that he made ( he is better known by his pedal steels and lap steels). The guitar is as new, only two gigs or so and less of two months of practice at home. The rest of time it was in his case till now.
The specifications are:
- eigth strings
- mahogany body
- Maple Kneck
- stainless steel nut and bridge
- 3 adjustable legs made of stainless steel.
- 23 "scale
- string spacing at nut and bridge 3/8 "
- case
The one feature that I doesn't like it's the fingerboard. It's made of an 0.01 " thick aluminium sheet with a vinyl fretboard glue on top. I think it would be better a silkscreened stainless steel, but I admit that does the job.
When I received the guitar three little points of the vinyl were lightly detached ( look at very closely the peghead picture and you will see one of this points) . But they never managed to become detached completely and because of it I have left them as they were. Together with the nut, there is a light cracking of the vinyl, probably because plaster was not OK in his day. I have tried to take a pothograph of these faults but they are so small that I haven’t been able to do it with my camera.
Here are some pictures:
what would be a rasonable price to sell ?
Thanks for the help
