Myself and a friend did a 250mile round trip to a village hall in the middle of Suffolk last Saturday to see and hear David and the great guitarist John Stannard. These two guys are just something else. I've heard a number of really good steel players over the years here in the UK but this was the first time I got to hear two top musicians of this calibre playing together in the same band - it was a treat, nay, a privilege and in addition a couple of gentlemen to boot. |

Thanks for making the trip up from Watford to see us. It was a special night and it was great to meet you and your friend too. I will be working with John a lot in future months preparing intrumentals and youtube clips. I am glad you enjoyed it. Keep an eye on my website for any gigs coming up. You would love the duo too 'Amarillo'. All the backing is my own work so its pretty tight and as the backing don't make mistakes, I have to try hard not to too!..Regards..

Paul, you bet, the trip to Dallas just to see and hear David would be worth the trip alone; David, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say a while back that, if all goes well, you would be making the trip to good old U.S.A. and Dallas in March of 2008?If my health warrants such a trip from N.Y. State in March, I am going to make an honest effort to make the Dallas Show. I've never been to a big Steel Guitar Show in my 73 years of being an avid steel guitarist and Fan of others, whom love the instrument, as I do.And if you love Steel guitar talent, you have to love David Hartley's style and ability in playing such grand Steel guitar. Amen..Bernie _________________ 2007 Zum S-10; 1967 Sho-Bud [ D-10 ]; 85 S-10 Sierra; 1953 Multi-Kord [ 6 String- 4 pedals ] A Sho-Bro six String Resonator Guitar; Nashville 112 Amp; hilton Vol. Pedal |

|
|
I am coming to Dallas 2008 and I have already booked flights and a room at the Sheraton hotel. I am not playing but might have a pick in the Rains booth. I would love to have a session with that Mike Siler I saw in 2006 though! You never know, might be able to jam in one of the rooms with him. Many thanks for your comments.

Hi David, I have every intention of coming to see you and Fran in the near future and to any other gigs within striking distance. I was disappointed to read that you are not playing the main stage in Dallas ( to whom should I complain ? ) you would be the ideal player to represent the UK - they don't come much better. Have a great time. |

Wow, great show, David; I agree with your last friend's posting; I naturally assumed that you have been invited to perform on their MAIN STAGE. I [ And I'm certain ] many other steel lovers and pickers will be most disappointed to hear this news. If any player with your talent can not be accepted or invited to par-take in such a grand show, then I would surely reccomend that an exception be made. Especially when an individual is coming from such a long distance. And, surely you are one of the Steel Guitar Forum's favorite sons, whom display their talents on a regular basis, for all our enjoyment, the world over. Why shouldn't the attendees at the "DALLAS SHOW" have that opportunity to hear a New Comer [ at least to Dallas ]
from the United Kingdom?
Possibly Scotty could provide us with the criteria to be invited to one of the big shows? How about it, Scotty? Thanks, David..Regards, Bernie _________________ 2007 Zum S-10; 1967 Sho-Bud [ D-10 ]; 85 S-10 Sierra; 1953 Multi-Kord [ 6 String- 4 pedals ] A Sho-Bro six String Resonator Guitar; Nashville 112 Amp; hilton Vol. Pedal |
