Joan and I have been working all winter to get our studio up and running and we are within days of opening for business. We have a full sevice 24 track digital recording studio with the ability to record with full band or one person at a time. We have done a few projects including our CD, Life After Nashville, but we have been remodeling and have added a new cue system that allows each singer or musician (currently up to 5) his or her own custom headphone mix. Twin Steels will provide production services for anything from a one song kareoke cd to full production broadcast quality cds. We have access to some of the best musicians in the world. Our hourly rates are reasonable and we have affordable project rates as well. I have also had several request to give private steel guitar lessons which I will do from the studio. This allows me to record the entire lesson for each student to take home. I will also be doing pedal steel repairs at my shop next to the studio. The studio will be available for booking just after TSGA show in March. Lessons will begin in late March, early April. It is my desire to use my 35 years of experience as a professional musician and studio player to help you, our friends in any way we can. We are located 50 miles southeast of Dallas, 15 miles northwest of Athens just off Hwy 175 between Mabank and Eustace Tx. For more info you can contact me at my e-mail, turnupthesteel@earthlink.net,
or call the studio at

I am not leaving MSA. Had a couple folks assume that I was leaving MSA to pursue my own thing, WRONG!!!!! We are working together to make sure MSA and Twin Steels work in harmony for the good of all involved. _________________ Johnny "Dumplin" Cox

Congratulations Johnny, I hope everything works out well for you. I'm glad you are staying with MSA, you do a great job there, I still love my MSA's, and I'll probably have to have another one in a year or two to add to the stable. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

Johnny and Joan, I too would like to wish you much success in your new Studio and Recording business venture.
Johnny, you are one of my very favorite players. If you haven't already done it, re-release the "Ballads, Shuffles and Swing" Album on CD. I bought it on Cassette, a year or so ago, and it is one I still play all the time. Some of the best tunes and playing I have ever heard you do.
If you guys on here don't have a copy of "Ballads, Shuffles and Swing" check with Johnny and see if he still has it for sale. It is well worth the money. |
