I need some help, I would like to change my pedal 4 to the Franklin change because I never use it on the C6 neck. So I went ahead and did it and the 6th string wont lower a whole step! if I try to tune it down there it lowers the open string too so I figured I needed some slack so I backed off of the tuning nuts and lowered my stop until it was basically gone and it still only lowers a half step with the stop all the way back, and still lowers the open string when I try to tune the lower, so can this be done and what do I need to do it, I have a feeling the guitar may not be able to accomidate that change. Thanks for any help

Are you using a plain or wound string? Some guitars won't lower a wound string a full tone. Most will lower a plain .020 or .022 a full tone.

Ben: If changing the string doesn't work, try taking the lower helper spring off the changer finger. I have a pro II that wouldn't lower E's true 'till I did this. Didn't harm the basics at all. It's the easiest playing steel I've ever tryed to play. Good luck. Andy H.

Thanks everyone for the responses, I have not been able to get a plain string, as we were snowed in but tonight I will, and report back. I really appreciate all of the responses

Because of the shorter scale of the Sho-Buds they can get away with using a wound string for the 6'th and in my experience a plain 6'th can sound a little floppy on these guitars (but that was a long time ago??), I know my old Pro III (a 75 model) couldn't lower the wound 6'th a whole tone no matter what I did.

thanks to everyone who helped, John Coop emailed me and let me know that because of the changer on this one, double raise, single lower that I would have to modify the finger which is beyond the scope of my current knowledge. Again thanks to all who helped!
