would someone smarter than me(that won't take much) start a poll of every steel brand that you can think of and post it for people to vote on for inherant tone and playability by the brand name. i guess if some are ommitted you could just post your brand. that would clear up a lot of air. no one knows who puts what on the poll. THERE YOU GO NOW KEEP IT UP. VOTE FOR WHATEVER YOU WANT AND GIVE A VERY BRIEF MESSAGE AS TO WHY. Wink

I had a sho-bud 12 string 3-4 extended e9th. very good tone had trouble blocking on it. traded for a 3-2 B. M. I. wonderful tone and easy to block for me

i have 2 picks Wink first carter or about any sho-bud. never had the privilage of trying an emmons. maybe someday. a guy in instruments has a 6 string lap that is the sweetest i've ever heard. i get the money i;m going to own onw. go over there and listen to his mps. sounds great.

for all around tone, I would have to go with the pro model GFI Ultras. I also like the old shobud tone too.

Best inherent tone and best playability are two very different things. For example, I would vote for an Emmons push/pull for tone, but an MSA Millennium for playability. You can't have both factors in the same poll.
