You'll find that up until the ProIII era, they're very hit or miss.

Some are welded up fine, some Birdsht deluxe welding on the levers rods etc. Pickups sometimes are tapped, sometimes not. if used for any length of time they're rewound, and need checked out.

The Professsional rack and barrel tuners work well but you REALLY need help in setting them up right, and a lot of them just came with one knee lever. Even the D10s. Disuse is the PSGs worst enemy. Especially 20 years plus.

Best of all possible worlds, either get a very unused ProIII for just over a grand, or like I did after I played a ProIII into the ground, get a Professional "hull" for 600 bucks or so and ask around about getting it restored by somebody like Mr Coop, or Ricky Davis, or like I did, have Duane Marrs and Jeff Surratt retrofit it with their new changer system. Probably looking at a couple grand including the hull. More if you want, and it's certainly not money wasted.

I had John Coop work on my Sho-Bud pro III and he did a super job installing my new finger changers, I recommend him for all Sho-Bud's, and Ricky Davis does really good work too.
