Take a small guage unwound guitar string and wrap each end around a piece of dowel. If you want to heat up the old fretboard do so very carefully with a heat lamp or a hairdryer. Cover up the areas of your guitar that you do not want any heat on. After the board has been heated and a few minutes go by for the heat to get into to the glue or double stick or whatever is holding it on, work the edge of the guitar string under a corner of the board and start to use a "sawing" motion sideways. Don't pull upwards as this will bend the boards, just sideways. The board should come off with no problems and you can recycle the old board. Someone might have some use for it rather than toss it.
