I Traded for a single on a double frame with a Pad. I have heard they are the worst sounding guitars Emmons Ever made. I Have also Heard they sound Really good . What do you think. I Will Get it friday and would like too get an Idea about These guitars.Thanks Randy Gilliam.

emmons?
i have had several and mine have been great
guitars with steller tone
at present i play skh d10 that has that emmons tone
sounds wonderfull up and down the necks and has it
above the 12 th fret
ive heard legrande 2 s and 3 s many times and i like mine
better

i use a nashville 400 and have used other amps
its not to say a person could not get a bad guitar
of any brand....some do in fact sound a bit better
than others
and the new legrandes are great steels i know that
ive played them and 2 of my friends here in town play them
and they do sound good
as for me i been using skh emmons for about 12 years
and they do great for me
i used mine on my gospel cd with nashville 112 and
boss rv-3 and it sounds good to me as well as many other session i have played on over the years
pick that bad boy when you get it and let me know
how you like it

Randy, I don't know Glen but maybe he heard me playing the SKH Emmons and that's how he made his decision.If you heard this before our trade and you had any doubts I certainly would'nt have gone through with the deal.That little Emmons you're getting is the best guitar I've owned.I had 2 Sho~Buds, a Carter SD 10,and a GFI keyless and although i'm fairly new to the PSG the one you're getting has the best sustain of the bunch.

Don i Love it already . I have heard good and Bad About All The Brands . I Just Like Too Try them all. I used too Play Golf and every time i Played Bad I Would Buy New Clubs. Well I Finally Shot a 73 and Fell And Broke My Leg so Its too Dangerous of a sport so Now Iam steelin.

In all seriousness, I suspect that the length of string in between the nut and the bridge, and what happens to it, is more important than the length of string between the nut and the tuner?

We heard Randy's band play Saturday night at the San Antonio Rodeo, it's gonna be hard to beat the sound you have now, that Legrande III sounded mighty nice. Hey, even Renee was braggin' on you. Thanks for the hospitality, we had a great time.

I don't claim to know the "truth", but I really like the sound of my SKH Emmons D-10. Of course, it's black, so that may be the real reason.

I haven't owned any later Legrandes, but have had a few P/Ps, and I think this guitar compares favorably to any of them. I often play a universal, but this Legrande is good enough to keep as my only D-10, to my tastes. I still have a little setup to do on it - the pedal action is actually a little too easy, I prefer just a hair more stiffness in tradeoff for a shorter throw and tighter feel. I've already stiffened up the A-pedal a bit, and the pedal pressure is still light enough for socked-foot playing.

The shorter keyhead spacing sort of reminds me of the Ernie Ball Albert Lee guitar I had for several years. Perhaps it does sound and feel a bit different, but I liked that guitar too. Very precise feel and good sound. Of course, every guitar is different, and my tastes may not be yours.

the skh emmons is close to pp sound with a bit more mids
like you i have had both pp s and skh emmons
and ive had 2 long emmons legrandes but not
the 2s and 3s but ive heard and played um
all emmons for the most part sound good to say the
least......heck i still like my ole shorty the best
mabe its the color black!!

I was considering a SKH and a well known Steeler on this Forum told me he has had much trouble with the rivets that hold the Changer breaking, and this a COMMON Problem with this model Emmons. The whole guitar has to be dis-assembled to repair this. Regardless to say, I have re-considered my choice. JD Simmons

I've got one of the first SKH LeGrandes built ser# 006 L. I've played it just about every day since I've had it sometimes for 6-8 hours a day. I used it when I was on the road touring, and I love it. It sounds great, stays in tune, and the only problem I ever had was one of the bell cranks broke one time. Its very easy to maintain, and if you want add or change any pedal pulls it's easy.

wow rivets? i never seen any thing like that on my guitars
not any of them nor have i ever had any problems
with any changer on any emmons short or otherwise
perhaps bryan adams will post some coments please

Randy, I don't anything about the single on a double frame being different from the double neck but I do know that Weldon plays the short keyhead LeGrand and he does have a tone to die for. The tone he gets make the hairs on my arm stand straight out and that's no lie.

bob skhs are some of the first emmons legrandes
they built with a shorter scale than the new ones
( legrande models)

which is what some of us have and play
they are i guess about 2or3 inches short of the the
2s and3s and there were some long legrandes that
were lashley legrandes
for some reason they dont break strings much i guess due to the shorter scale and they most always sound very good
bar a few who dont care for them
i for one like mine and and will play from here on
unless i come into a bunch of money

Mike, The LeGrande (SKH) is 321/2" long, the P/P's are 33" and, the Lasley's, Legrande II's and III's are 331/2"long. All have a 241/4" scale or, vibrating string length. Regards, Jay Thompson
