For those not having had the pleasure of seeing Bruce B's video, may i pass on one secret of good development that he reveals in it. He recommends that as you practice you keep your eyes on the strings just in front of the bar, and not, for the most part, on the picking hand, which, at least for me, is where i would naturally have developed the habit of looking. A great tip! Any thoughts on this?

I have always looked at my strings in front of the bar. I never look at my fingers. If I looked at my fingers I would probably get completley lost. If you concentrate on the mentioned procedure you will find that you can look around a lot more and have eye contact with others very easily.

One other thing I failed to mention is that learning to look at the strings in front of the bar for finger placement is very similar to walking up a set of steps, it becomes automatic and you do it without having to look. It is an invaluable tool! Isn't it marvelous the way we were created? Boggles the mind!

Very Happy I have found that looking at the picking hand is what the beginner does and i try to get them to get rid of that bad habit ! It's ok when you first get your guitar to make sure you have the right combination of strings but after that you move on . G.P.
