INteresting. Looks sort of like a cornfield also.

Guitarra Havaiana?

Hmmm... ten strings, more jacks & switches than you can shake a stick at. Some kind of home or custom made instrument? I don't think it's midi. There's a power cord coming out of it...a built in amp perhaps?

Sounds pretty cool, though.

Given the Portuguese description and the background, I'd assume this was filmed in Brazil. I couldn't find a specific reference to Joaquim Santana and guitarra, though. Fascinating instrument, fascinating playing. It's amazing what people come up with when left to their own devices.

Don't know what it is, but it looks like they made him go outside to practice!

Brad, I'm not sure but I think Santana is a fairly common portuguese surname. Wouldn't guitarra be portuguese/spanish for guitar?

Really amazing the steel guitar innovations which come along ! I doubt it is MIDI but it is fascinating. I guess when they put that guy out in the jungle he must have lost his picks. I wonder....where in the jungle is the power source ?

The jungle setting must be for "ambiance" Sounds good, and a little unusual. No, that's not a corn field!!! :D

What's even more funny, is that guy has been playing music in his overgrown garden for 37 years. Finally someone captured it on video without disturbing his performance. Such footage is rare. If you've ever been walking around and hearing hawaiian steel guitar riffs in your head, chances are this man is sitting behind the bushes playing just out of your sight. When you look for him even quickly, he will just disappear - but the music will keep playing.

The instrument looks like a Gibson 8-string in a custom enclosure. Looks like there's a bunch of electronics, and a serial cable attached.

It's the serial cable that made me cry Midi. Maybe it's just a very complex and musical mouse for his laptop. :?

Add a Lincoln, up on blocks, and it could have been my front yard.
