I have a laptop Eharp and would like to convert it to a console model. Has anyone ever put legs on a laptop? I am worried about ruining the instrument.

If it's a "white-face" Epiphone, don't do it. Otherwise, you could look at it like, if it was supposed to have legs, it would have them. There's other ones out there that have legs, and they shouldn't be too expensive.

I had an Epiphone EHArp in about 1950/51 exactly like Mr. Alkire's. Green Abalone Keys and Aluminum-Cup on the Tone-Knob. White-Top & Black Sides & Back. I know where it is today and hope to buy it back eventually. I would suggest building a stand w/legs for it. I wouldn't think of maring the finish of it! The one I had is still like new!

I added legs to the guitar-shaped epiphone model. Works/looks just fine...
[This message was edited by Al Terhune on 17 February 2005 at 11:33 PM.]

John's got it right. Build an EHarp shaped platform with legs to set it on. Mission accomplished with no modification to whatsoever to the fine instrument.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I like the idea of a platform and will give that a go. It sounds a lot safer than taking a chance on ruining a good instrument. This thread can be discontinued.

Duane,
You might try an ironing board to start with. That has adjustable legs and a flat top too!
Good luck!
