Jens Plahte in Sweden has created a web page illustrating his modifications to a Seagull S6 acoustic guitar for lap style playing.

thanks for the post Brad. I am always on the lookout for an inexpensive or beater acoutic to turn into a lap slide.

the picture of the bridge breaking is frightening. especially so , as I am making a semi hollow body lap steel and am making an ebnony bridge with bone saddle. (almost as pictured).

Didn't Lew Childre play a Martin with a nut extension on it?

Also, Oswald played a round neck Dobreo with an extension nut.

If you watch the gauges of strings and don't try to string an acoustic up like a dobro style guitar with heavy strings, I don't see why there is a problem.

When I taught steel guitar many years ago, I would use the Stella guitars and put an extension nut on them until the player got advanced enough for an electric.

Thanx,
Jim

I picked up a '60's Harmony acoustic that needed a neck reset, so I put an extension nut on it and use it for C6 things. I'm still working out the pickup situation. I have a Lace Acoustic pickup that's too far away from the strings, but I think I have a solution. It's fun.
