I have tuned my lap steel to E-F#-G#-B-D#-F# in an attempt to make it more like my Pedal steel E9. I guess it would be an E6 with a major triad 643 and a minor 432. With a couple of bender levers I can raise 4&3 like the AB pedals.
I’m finding the transition from C6 easy, is anybody else doing this? Have I missed some major disadvantage?

I have this on a couple guitars:
F#
E
C#
B
A
G#
F#
E
C#
B
And the 8 string version, on a 3rd guitar, leaves off the 2 lowest strings. Even though it's a kind of diatonic tuning, I think of it as pedals up and down, including the B,C combinations because of the A, C# and F# in the "top" grouping. |
