I am not sure if this is in the right category but I am searching for any living relatives of Jimmy Day. I have a phone number for his wife Marilyn, but the number is out of service. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

Marilyn and Jimmy were living around Buddha,TX at time of his death.

He also had at least one brother but can't remember his name.

Willie Nelson's crew would know if you can locate some of them. Willie and Jimmy were thick for years. I used to know a close bass player friend that Jimmy literally helped raise and get started in Nashville, but he has since past away.

If I can think of anyone else I'll get in touch with you.

GOD bless!

I think he and Herb Steiner were close friends. You might drop Herb a line and ask him.

Tomorrow January 9th is the day Jimmy was born. He would've been 73.

Bill,

A year or so back, I was playing in a bar up here in Woodland Park Colorado. During a break, a young lady approached me & asked me if I knew who Jimmy Day was. I proceeded to tell her he was a legend in these here steel parts & went on about some of his history. I thought she just pulled his name out of her hat... She then told me she was his granddaughter & he used to play for her in years back when she was a kid. She told me about the family & some of the problems he had as a result of being in this business. She appeared to really miss him. Anyway, she said she was glad that folks remembered him fondly & that she was living somewhere in the area. I don't remember her name & haven't seen her since, but I wanted to let you know there might be someone out there... She looked to be in her early 20's at the time.

Russ,
Thanks much for your reply. I'm still searching for son in Texas. His wife is in Buda Texas, but doesn't return my calls. His older brother , who actually raised Jimmy is in Livingston, Texas. I have spoken to him. Actually got him on Jimmy's birth day. He is in is eighties, with poor health and cannot make our show on the 19th and 20th. I am still searching for a family member to come and represent Jimmy as we will be inducting him into The ASGA Hall of Fame. Anyone who can help find someone, will be greatly appreciated.

Your best bet would probably be Charlie Day. Charlie is a cousin or nephew (not sure which). Charlie played steel on the new Louisiana Hayride back in the 70's. I was a performer on the show a few times and had several conversations with him. I'm not sure where he lives but he knows Jimmy's history very well. One of the posts above says that he lives in Austin.

Bill,
I found some information
His son Jimmy Clayton Day Jr.
I put a call in to him but got the machine.
If either one calls me back I'll
let you know.
I can't find anyone who knows how to reach
Charlie. My self I'd rather see his son accept the award.
R.L.

Thanks to all who helped me in this venture. Jimmy's Plaque will be sent to his brother, Mr. Joe Day in Texas. He practically raised Jimmy and he will recieve the Plaque. If any relative can attend, that will be gravy on the potatoes, but, Mr. Joe Day is getting the Plaque. Again thanks to all. I think we can close this one.

Before we close this could we edit out the phone numbers and contact info? Not sure they'd like this spread over a public forum.
