...sounds real good to me, Gerald.
And, I might add; you are in the best company on earth, steel guitar players.
"I never met a steel guitarist I didn't like." ... sorry Will R. |

Ron, you like all steel guitarist because they ALL have such GREAT PERSONALITIES AND CHARISMA. If one does not have a great personality and charisma and tries to play the steel guitar he/she is probably an imposter.
Gerald you are so right.
Here is some additional reasons why SGF members and others looking in should consider this conference.
This is a good opportunity for all:
1.To personally meet each other.
2.To join the Hawaiian family of steel guitarists (Ohana)
3.To come to a Free-to-the-public Hawaiian Steel Guitar Ho`olaule`a which features an international All-Star group of some of the world's finest Hawaiian steel players.
4 To enjoy a Hawaiian May Day celebration, which is one of the major Hawaii events of the year, all free.
5.To enjoy Good Views - One half of the rooms in the Queen Kapiolani have Diamond Head and ocean views, most for the $61 rate.
6. To meet the major professional Hawaiian steel guitar players and entertainers who are very personable.
7. To enjoy a relaxing vacation with the beauty of the Islands – green/purple mountains and azure ocean.
8. Enjoy the best tasting water in the world with the most natural purifying water system which makes the best tasting coffee - KONA COFFEE
9. A thousand more reasons that cannot be put on paper.
E KOMO MAI!
Don

I should have included this post earlier, but I just could not think of everything at the time.
Nevertheless: Have you ever heard the song, “Some Enchanted Evening”?
Would you ever like to have the full experience of this song?
How does this sound?
It is drawing to the close of the day, as the sun is about to set in the West. You are on a lanai (veranda) with your loved one or spouse by your side as you watch the waves crash in on the beach. The sun is starting to set in the west and as you look to the east you see the outline of Diamond Head, an inactive volcano.
Just to your right a soft steel guitar starts to softly play accompanied by the pulsing rhythm section followed by a lovely voice singing into the air sweet love songs as a lovely Hula Dancer gives expression to the words with her lovely Hula hands.
What starts to happen to you is uncontrollable and you cannot stop it. Chills begin to run up and down your spine. (In Hawaii that is called having chicken skin). The sound of the steel guitar is playing, consuming your emotions, as the waves echo in to give you a memory that you will never forget. It haunts you forever.
The evening progresses with the masters of steel guitar continuing to play as the moon rises and you see the light of the moon through the coco palms. The face of the Hula Dancer shines from the moon’s glow as she weaves a story of love that touches you.
You continue your evening with a tropical drink, some kaukau (food), and some good conversation (talk story). You reflect on the even saying it truly was enchanted.
You are not dreaming. Your dream has come true. And your spouse would like your dream to come true too with her present.
Where are you?
You are in a real, but dreamy place at the Halekulani’s House without a Key on the beach at Waikiki attending the HSGA convention in Honolulu, April 25-27 and other major events of interests throughout the week. See Gerald Ross’s earlier post. The rates are cheap and the fellowship outstanding.
