All your threads left out how Steve is such a warm and thoughtful person. I was looking for Winny Winston's pedal steel book. Steve sent me a brand new one at no charge to me even though I offered. I did recipricate by sending him a semi-antique ShoBud tuning guide from the late 60's early 70's. Now I have more reason to be proud of him now that I know he is a spaceman. The other thing is I found that he lives near my brother in Texas.

Farris, how about a Black Phoenix in the shape of the shuttle? Hard to hold on to, but so is the real thing.... |

Do you think his favorite steel CD is Tommy Hannum's "It's Not Rocket Science"? |

Wouldn't it be nice if one of the Steel Guitar MFGs stepped forward and presented him with a Steel Guitar? And we could all contribute in some manner. If all members were in for $5 bucks apiece that would make a pretty good custom Guitar. ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/rolleyes.gif) |

"I guess steel players cover all kinds job professions so I am not surprised one would be an astronaut. Who knows, maybe one day one of us might be the President of the United States."
My steel playing doesn't qualify me for an Astronaut, or President.
Wishing you a safe return Steve, were proud of you.

Joe and Farris -------------What a great idea -anyone who does what he is doing for our country deserves something.....
$5.00 -Ha Chicken Feed ---I'd be glad to contribute.
The steel would have look nice with an airbrushed picture of the shuttle on the front.

$5 times 5000, $25,000; yes, I'm sure you could get a 'pretty nice' steel for that, including airbrushing by the automitive artist of your choice, with money left over for fenders and a motor.
But seriously, what do you buy for a guy who already has the prettiest Marlen 'Spirit' I've ever seen?
I think this is 'gilding the lily....'
How about $1 apiece, tickets to the next big steel show and really nice hotel rooms?
(I have my doubts about gifting to a great and humble man.) |

I just watched the safe return from space with no doubt all of you here. Way to go Steve and the whole crew! Sounds like a mission you might want to unwind with a little steel guitar to me. |
