Thanks Miguel. I went up to the Eminence factory in KY this week and shot some promotional video for the new speaker. I'm really excited for everyone to see and hear this thing. It's been about 6-7 months in the making.

I believe the BW 1203-4 is more like the 1501-4 rather than the 1201-4. So when comparing any speaker to the 1201-4 you might have larger differences than similarity.

Travis, I'm just curious regarding the brightness or sharpness you experience with existing speakers.
Using available existing speakers, are you able to EQ those signal paths to get a warmer or more desirable tone that matches the frequency response or tone of these new speakers?
Or do these speakers somehow create a whole different frequency response/tone that can't be recreated with EQ using existing available speakers?
Thanks

Charlie, my experience is twofold:
A lot of a speaker's tone has to do with its transient/dynamic response. Some respond quicker while others respond slower to transients, and all compress differently at higher volumes (same guitar speakers are designed to break up quicker than others).
In my experience, using a speaker with an EQ to push it outside its normal operating envelope usually results in harsh overtones as the speaker tries to reproduce sounds that it doesn't want to.

Hey Charlie. If you were to get accurate response graphs of the existing NEO speakers on the market (which I've done in this process), you'd see that they have really dramatic spikes in ultra high end frequencies. A lot of them are still going strong in the graph at 5, 8, even 10K sometimes. Those are the frequencies that are responsible for the "zing", "eek", etc factor that you will hear people talking about. In my experience, it's very hard to get those undesirable responses to stop happening with any EQ. You're fighting what the speaker is naturally trying to produce. It never quite sounds right. If you can get a speaker that naturally operates within the ranges you are looking for, and then do less major adjustments with EQ, you're gonna have a way more natural sounding tone.
(Insert shameless plug for my speaker here.)

I know nothing about Eminence speakers. I have an Altec Lansing 15" bass speaker (8 ohms) in my '74 Session 400 that sounds terrific. It's been there for 38 years.
Maybe someone could be kind enough to decipher all of these Eminence speakers for us old fogeys. Is that what Peavey uses? What is in my Delta Blues? My Nashville 112?
Back in the day, Eminence was similar to Utah speakers, just another company making blah products. It was JBL, Altec, CTS and Jensen for good speakers. I'm glad that Eminence now makes a great speaker but I'll be darned if I know a blue marvel from a blue apple... -L-

Hey Steven. The speakers are actually in production right now to have stock for initial orders. I believe they are gonna go up on the website in the next few weeks at most. They are building the webpage, etc, for them as we speak. There will be an official announcement as soon as they're available for order through dealers. I think Vic at Steel Guitars of Nashville here in town may actually be taking pre-orders. You could certainly give him a call and inquire.

I will be offering the lowest prices on these speakers to all Forum members. ETA is early August release. The official name for this speaker is the Eminence Double T-12. Travis put a lot of work into this speaker. Hatton Cases.

Jay, I think Eminence generally provides graphs for their speakers on the associated webpages. When the page goes up for this speaker on their site, I'm sure there will likely be one available.

Just got caught up on this thread while browsing for a 12", 8 ohm speaker for an extension cab I have that I'd like to use for steel. So long as the final production version is 8 ohms, this sounds perfect...
Eagerly waiting...

It's officially out guys. I'm gonna make a new product announcement post, and I think it'd be cool to move all further discussion over there, just to keep it more concise for people to find info. Thanks for all the support, and for being patient.
