Speaking of the legal system as some one who works with it-The most important thing that one can do when this type of loss happens is to make sure you MAKE A POLICE REPORT with the law enforcement agency that has juristiction over the location where the theft/burglary occurrs-Provide a complete description of the instrument incuding the serial number-Stolen articles such as guitars can be entered into the national database for law enforcement called NCIC (acronym for National Crime Information Center) The article must be valued at $500 or more and have a serial number or owner applied number (some people engrave a social security number for example on the item) Insist that you know that your missing item can be entered into the system by the police dept taking the report-there is usually a statewide database for stolen articles as well-Case in point-Lee Jeffries had his Bigsby stolen some time ago-By following this advice from me Lee was able to rightfully and without question reclaim his stolen guitar when it popped up at a guitar show

Thank's for the kind words friends.

Good news: the eBay seller sounds like a good guy, and he will return the difference between the pawn shop money and what I paid, (don't know how much that is by now)as soon as he gets Bruce or the police to confirm that the guitar was stolen.

I am accepting the fact that I'll lose some money on this, but I am very glad Douglas gets his belowed ZUM back. I suggest that you rather collect some funds to help Douglas put his guitar back in its original shape.

Hope to see some of you in Dallas in March Image

Ok guys here is an update,,, The sellar of the guitar on ebay has been contacted by Tore, the sellar paid 1500 for the guitar at a music store in north texas called Michaels Music. There was an amp with it and the person that purchased the guitar could not afford to buy it. It is probable that is my nashville 1000 amp also,,,, If it is further investigation will be done to see if other peices of equipment is there also. The gentlman that sold the guitar is pretty upset and wants all this to get sorted out so hopefully everyone is happy. I am trying at this time to contact this gentleman by telephone. As soon as I know more I will post further.

I have my instruments insured for theft at home and away. Never had to file a claim. anyone else had any experience with a theft claim? A really miserable situation, insurance or not.

Douglas, This is a tragic story. The man that bought the guitar from the store in Lewisville,Texas is a friend of mine. He has the receipt to show where he bought the guitar. He did mention that there was a Nashville 1000 amp there when he bought the guitar. I just thought he had got a good deal. He did not know it was stolen until it was sold to the gentleman overseas. I talked with him on Friday and he was expecting a call from the Joplin,Missouri police department. His loss is minimal to all involved here since he paid PayPal and EBAY for their services. I saw and played the guitar and he did nothing to alter the guitars cabinet. If any damage has been done it was done somewhere else. I am just at a shocked that all this has happened. My hope is that the guitar will be returned to Douglas in better condition than it was when it was stolen. I sure hope all will be blessed with their loss on this guitar. In closing, this is another reason why this forum is a great website.
[This message was edited by Paul King on 11 November 2006 at 06:35 AM.]

Hello Paul,
I talked the gentleman that bought the guitar on the phone lastnight. He is a very nice person. Everyone one involved gets hurt in some way. I am so glad this forum is available for all of us. I know the persons that stole the guitar changed the guitar because it was so unique to begin with. We all always thought that the steel would be the one to turn up first anyway.

Ok I have spoken with the detective in Joplin Mo, He called to get all the information from me on the case that has come to me over the weekend. Unfortunatly he is working a double fatality fire at the time and of course rightfully so can not persue this until next week. I will be going to Bruces probably wed. of this week to pick up my guitar weather permitting anyway. Tore is supposed to be recieving $500.00 from the person in North texas that listed the guitar. I converse with Tore about compensations. I will let you folks know what and where. But for now the guitar is coming home. I thank all of you, and God for this miracle. Hopefully the next topic I start will be of a different format.
Thankyou
Douglas Hudson

My friend here in North Texas told me he was going to refund Tore $500 on the guitar. He feels awful all of this has happened. He would have never ripped anyone off regardless of what he was selling. I sure am happy Douglas you are getting your guitar back. I just hope they can find who stold the guitar and amp and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. I have no use for a thief regardless of who they are. Now I hope that Tore can get what is rightfully his and that is the money he paid for the guitar. None of these men deserve to lose anything.

Well she is a bit dirty, but she cleans up pretty good. Someone had removed the front mica on the guitar with out removing the end plates and replace it with a black mica front. The mica has about a 1/16th gap on the right front next to the end plate. Believe me she could be a lot worse. There were some nicks in the E9th fret board but I have blackened them back in. I will soon take her apart and polish all the chrome. But for now I am going to play her. Missed her a lot. I have some more investigation to do on what has happened to her. I will definatly reveal more information as it comes to light..... What I am saying is that I am almost positive that a fellow musician stole her. Bruce had checked her out for playability and oiled up the changers for me. I have one roller at the nut that wont turn but I am working on getting it freed up. But all in all she is great. I thought I had some C6th strings but cant find them. Gonna have to order some. I am hoping that soon Tore will get his money back and then I will set up a fund to help him replace what he has lost. Anyone have any ideas on setting this up Let me know.
Thanks everyone
Douglas Hudson
