Thanks very much Bill! Your vote is very much appreciated

Michael,

about issuing the magazine as a "pdf" file on a CD? ...Easy to ship, and if someone wants a physical copy of a page of TAB, etc. it's easy enough for them to do on their own computer.
...and of course it would be just as easy to copy for all of their friends ...not that they would think about that...

William,
I am looking up your order I'll let you know something soon!

Terry the reason I have not responded to the e-mail or this topic for support is I still have not recieved the first issue.I think what you are asking from us here is like asking someone to buy two guitars when you've never seen the first!

Actually Jimmy it's not.

You see, many people (just like yourself) didn't order their magazine until after the first mailing of Feb/Mar 2003 had already been shipped. (Yours was ordered on March 26th, and when required USPS 125 pieces/orders minimum accumulate we will ship the "post publication orders".)

What I am asking is this:

If you'd like to BE SURE you will get your magazine with the first group of each issue that are mailed - Subscribe - Then there will not have to be multiple mailings with different arrival times... that's what I am asking

WOW! Larry,

Don't feel like you are the only one (12/19/02). Seems that Anaheim, CA, as well as Manteca, CA, and now Bakersfield, CA all have delays! So, USPS seems to be messed up the most in CA.

I would recommend complaining to the "953**, 928**, 933**" zip code/area ADC's (automated distribution center's) for the USPS and ask them why you have not received your magazine yet. They were all mailed on March 13, 2003.

Terry, I'll pony up for the full subscription price as soon as I see my first issue. Haven't gotten it yet.

Years ago I published a small newspaper called The Kudzu in Jackson, MS. One thing I learned is that all successful magazines and newspapers pay their staff and production costs with advertising revenue. The face value the reader pays mostly goes for distribution costs and dealer profits. About the only exception I know to that is Consumer Reports, which doesn't take adds and is published by a nonprofit corporation that survives off the subscription price.

My advice - get an ad rep to sell ads on commission, unless you have tons of free time and want to engage in that activity yourself. This will make the difference between survival and failure.

Terry,
Got the mag last week, have read it several times....I really like the emphasis on being creative with the steel and getting out of the box!!! I frankly find the cliche ridden nashville stuff a bit redundant and totally unimaginative....lyrically speaking that is..

I started out playing classical piano as a kid, switched to jazz and orchestral trumpet in my teens, along w/rock guitar and picked up the love of my life(after my family that is)the pedal steel guitar....so I have absolutely no exposure nor experience playing country music till i started getting into the steel....the only limitation on this instrument is our own imagination..along with the cello and jerry douglas dobro, i find the steel to be the most expressive instrument in the world!!!

After all this drivel, sign me up for the next publications...i want to support the steel community!!

Thanks for your persistence!

My new issue finally arrived and it was well worth the wait and the money. I loaned it to my nephew and another friend who both play dobro and they like to went crazy. If any of you pickers out there have dobro nuts around show them this mag. The Jerry Douglas article was a winner.Put two more subscriptions down for me , I will pay for both of these guys.

Please, Kerry just delete them.

It is an old nightmare, one that has several explanations... and it hangs right on if you do anything other than delete them.

Terry, The 1st issue was great. And even after the glitch with Emails I,m steel in for a years subscription. Page 5 gives everyone a description on what to expect in future issues. Maybe one day a centerfold pull-out of some beautiful old guitars and some new ones. Something like Jody Carver's RARE BIRD. A 1956 4 neck String master that he sold and found 30 years later exactly like he left it. But that is Jody's story so maybe that would be a good interview with Jody and for the magazine. People, we got us a magazine now so let's support it and pick up the pace on orders.

Okay, did everyone get their magazines now?

and... Does everyone know about the subscriptions now?

Just curious... since all 200+ supporters haven't been added to the actual "LIST of Subscribers" ...yet
