No offense to the guys posting,

Kyle , no offense taken.... But if the steel guitar is gonna be a really big part of your life and I mean BIG part! ......
Then its important that your "lifetime" partner understands this otherwise you end up like me!

I think the topic is very relevent to Steel Guitar....IMHO ..:)

twice, outkicked my coverage on the 2nd one tho.

This reminds me of a story about the legendary Quarterback Ken Stabler. After a really nasty divorce, someone from he press asked him if he thought he'd ever get married again, and he said "Naw, I think I'll just find someone I already hate and give them my house."

My wife gave me one of the greatest years of my life... 1978. Miserable since then, but it was good while it lasted.

Why is this such a popular subject?
Pride or regret,--or maybe a little of both?

Never been married, but, I've been with my lady for almost six years. She's a recording engineer, and every new piece of gear we pick up is another color on the palette. Lucky Me! She actually encouraged me to start down the road of steel and PSG and her father actually bought me my first lapsteel just to see what I could do with it. Dangerous levels of encouragement exist in my life. I'm a happy dude.

...and if I ever forget it I can contrast that against every relationship up until know...lots of "Is this really what you're doing with your life?" type of action. Bummer!!!

Get yerself a lady who appreciates a good tube amp or guitar...no matter how many you already have...or are gonna flip...or not flip...

I'm very lucky - my Susie is very understanding about my passion for musical instruments, and she makes an effort to keep up with all my theorising about what I'm going to try next, etc, etc....

One thing, though - she always rolls her eyes a bit when I mention a nice-looking Emmons p/p for sale; "You'll hate it - you know how fussy you get about tuning, and aren't they supposed to be difficult to keep in tune?"

I don't know if she knows me better than I know myself, or if she's just trying to stop me buying something else!

Twice.
Once in 94' lasted almost a year. She kept the house in NJ, I kept the dog.
Then I lost the dog.

Moved to Texas, got married again in 04'. Been happy ever since.
When we bought our house, the owners gave us their dog!
It was the exact same breed (a Norweigian Elkhound).
Not only did I find true love and a beautiful wife, I got a bigger house and my dog back too.

Nicely done, Clete. Sounds like what happens if you play country record backwards.

How does that verse go in Jimmy Crawford's and Russ Hicks' song...

"Barely kept myself alive, steelin'
Went through half a dozen wives, steelin'
Never found and understanding spouse
They all said I was a louse
But I bought each of them a house, steelin'."

So then, those of us with only 1X should only be non-pedal players?
