I think Earl may have found The Secret From the names of those two massage parlors that used to be on Lower Broad in the 70's, "Magic Touch" and "Magic Fingers".

Hi Jerry, thanks for the compliments. The answer to your question about my Gibson is that after my 14yr.lay off playing guitar my Byrdland sounded steril compared to the sound of my Tele's so I just stuck with them.I do play the Byrd but not very often.
Now John...behave yourself, don't be giving away my secrets.
[This message was edited by Earl Erb on 05 June 2001 at 05:00 PM.]

I received a copy of Earl's CD yesterday and I could not believe what I was hearing!! Man, what great chord work. Thanks Earl for some great, great picking! There is something there for everybody. If you like to hear speed, it is there; if you want beautiful music and wonderful tone, it is on this CD.

What an incredible display of talent. After reading the previous posts, I feel as though there is nothing of substance I could add which would serve to enhance the praise already expressed for this CD. However.....
I have this playing while I work. As soon as it goes off, I just start it again. Every time I listen, I hear something new! Tal Farlow, Howard Roberts, Lenny Breau, Chet Atkins, Pat Martino, and on, and on...... Elements of all these players mixed in and then exploding forth as a distinctive new voice.
Absolutely superb. If you do not have a copy, then I would consider it imperative to get in line for one.
And, all this on a Tele........

Earl, What can I say? let me say it this way....
Guy's I just got my copy of Earls new CD out of the mailbox and am listening to the fifth cut as I write this post. This is one of the most incredible Guitar CD's I have heard.(and I have quite a few in my collection) "The shadow of your smile" almost brought tears to my eyes and everything else I've heard so far is equally beautiful. The tastful use of the Tele shows the unique ability of this fine musician. I love my copy and I'm sure I will listen to it often. This CD is......AWESOME!!!
Thanks Earl for sharing. Austin

I too would like to add my compliments to Earl on his great CD. I had the honor of playing steel last Saturday night at the Long Hollow Jamboree. When I got the call to play, my first thought was "Boy, I hope Earl is there". I was carrying my guitar in and looked and there he was. It made my night. Earl, Johnny had told me what a great musician you were, and I so much enjoy when I get to work with you. I had a great time last Saturday, and hope I get to do it again. Your CD is great...Johnny and I have about wore it out!! If you ever want to start a band, I'd be glad to play steel for you!! (I also have a van..if that helps my chances!!)

Austin and Kevin, thank you so much for the compliments and I am very happy you enjoy my music.
Joan, you are a sweetheart and you don't have to play second steel to anyone. I always enjoy the opportunity to work with you and I hope the next time will be real soon. You and John are two of the finest people I have ever known and I always feel right at home whenever I am around the two of you.
As far as the band goes...if there was a venue for instrumental music we might have a shot...so keep your van gassed up,you never know.
Joan, I tried to email you but your email address on the forum is not valid.
