Yes, it got painted this past spring. The tank isn't original either. When I got the bike is was metallic purple. Wanted something with a vintage vibe so I chose this paint scheme.

UPDATED GAS PRICES

In Oklahoma City this morning, unleaded is selling for $3.38 and super for $3.59

If this keeps up I may have to park the Harley and start driving the MKX again.

Mike, is that by any chance a "Mustang" seat? It resembles mine which is a Mustang........JH in Va.

I am curious about the barrell behind you. Is it full of gas for the pickup, or full of oil for the Harley?

Ron, no offense intended, just an old joke I often heard from Honda riders. I know Harley's don't use oil anymore. The last "oil burner" I owned was a 65 Panhead and that was a long time ago.

I was on holidays in the u.s.a. the past 17 days. Went from L.A., via San Francisco to all the beautifull national parks (Yosemite, Zion, Bryce, Arches, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon and every time I had to fill up our Rental Chevrolet Cobalt, I just grinned and smiled for in Europe (The Netherlands), we pay about double!!! People at the gasstation often apologized for the high bill they gave me and I told them about this nondutch treat...!

Here's my "Scootie Puff Jr."


Sitting outside for five years, inside a garage for three. Then, A friend of mine a work didn't want it anymore and said "take it if you want it". So, two new tires, clean the carbs, the caliper, master cylinder, replace misc. this and that later, great transportation and fun to ride. 45 to 55 MPG depending on how I ride.

I bought this as a "unicycle" about 11 years ago. Another friend of mine was having a bad streak of motorcycle accidents back then. He got cut off on Massachusett Rt. 128 and down he went. The only things holding the front end on this bike were the throttle and choke cables, and the clutch hose (hydralic). I bought the pieces from him in 1997. It needed everything from the triple clamp to the front axel, and then some. So, between me, my clymer manual, lots of trips to to used parts junk yards, I got it rolling in just about a month. My wife likes taking rides on this one with me. She won't go on back of the "Scootie puff Jr" though. Give me about 46 MPG.

gene..i had a '55 panhead...once we rebuilt it right it didn't leak a drop (except for the chain oiler).

Chris, the chain oiler wasn't a problem, I kept it turned off and used chain-lube spray. The problem was oil leak-down into the transmission so that it puked oil through the vent onto my right foot.

On topic: I see gas advertised at $3.37 this morning.....but milk at the same convenience store is $4.35 a gallon. I wonder if there are any plans to put an excess profit tax on Big Milk ?

Well, OK, one more. This one is obviously in the works. You guys have shown the bikes you go to shows on, bike rallys, etc. Show the bike (or bikes) you actually ride back and forth to work, weekend rides, trips, etc. rain or shine! I would like to see some bikes that you guys actually ride everyday. As for me, I just love resurrecting those old bikes! Nothing like the feeling of riding something that you actually had a hand in putting back together yourself. It don't get anymore American than that!


I am hopeing to have it road ready by next spring. (I may work the lawnmower too!!)

This is the present ride,1993 1500cc Gold Wing. I also have a matching trailer with it. The average MPG is 40. The best I ever got was 46.8, short shifting and never above 2000 RPM thru the gears and using cruise control. When we took the trip to Colorado Springs last summer , 2 up, trailer loaded 38MPG to 29MPG in the mountains. It all depends on how far you twist that thing on the right handlebar.

This is my way of beating the fuel consumption. 3 quarts of gas for all day running.[/img]
