You are one of the few who do qualify. The topic title specificly says, "FROM THE BRITISH ISLES." Anyone still living there is obviously not FROM there. Since I have never been there, I've always been from there.

I'm from Birmingham, living in California. If I qualify, so does anyone else from Britain.

I can't remember if I'm in this thread or not but anyway, I'm here now.

Bitten by the bug when I heard the Steel behind Slim Whitman and the two Hanks, too poor to do anything about it then though. Bought a D-8 Guyatone in the 70s and never looked back. Never played pro. just with local bands and now in the bedroom, it still gives me a lot of pleasure. The only Pedal Guitar I have ever played is the Springfield S-10, I have 3 Lap Steels, a Teisco R6. and two National Replicas, a New Yorker and a Dynamic.

James.

Steven Hicken Jr - West Yorkshire.

My dad's also called Steven and has been playing steel since the 70s hence the extension of my name. I've been playing steel since October 2012, a few months before my 15th birthday. I'm 22 now. One of my older brothers, Ed, also plays steel, lead guitar and banjo but there's a nearly 20 year age gap between him and me.

Currently play Show Pro...and most likely will be a long time.
