How many Franklin owners out there ?

just out of curiosity, if these franklins are the best steel made, why do some of you play other steels (rains) or sell franklins that you have?
if i had the best steel ever, that's what i'd play.

I sold mine because I wanted a dbl neck at the time.
I think franklin owners will back this up NO other steel PERIOD will have resale or sell like a Franklin. I removed mine from the forum over hard feelings and guys who were seemingly ready to do harm to me over it...serious.because all of them wanted me to sell it to THEM>> I never ever touched anything other than very minor tuning in 24 years I had it, I messed up compesators Mr franklin would not charge me a DIME to repair it and I tried to pay him. And Emmons clone? Not even close and yes I owned both sorry but Emmons just not built like a franklin in ANY WAY. My 2 cents worth I miss mine

A couple of you forumites compare Franklins to Emmons stating that Emmons is inferior in ways. I beg to differ. I've owned both myself and I can honestly state that my Franklin wasn't any better than my Emmons in any way shape or form. The only difference was that my Emmons Legrande SKH had more sustain and better tone than the Franklin I had.

I don't know why some of these Franklin owner's think they have the best steel ever. Like another forumite said, if they are the best why do the owner's sell them?? I also agree that if I had the best steel ever why would I sell it?? Just my 2 cents.

They are both great guitars and one is not better than the other.

The ONLY big difference in my book is the high cost of a Franklin versus an Emmons.

I remember a few years ago when I purchased my Franklin. As soon as I got it I put a blog on the forum showing pictures of it and bragging and stating that I now have the guitar of my dreams. I am sorry to say that I jumped the gun. I had never played a Franklin before. I was going from what some forum members were saying about them. That they are the best. After about a month or so you can look back on the forum and see that I sold my Franklin. When I purchased it I had my Emmons SKH. I thought I would sell that when I got my Franklin. Well, I've had many pedal steels and nothing has ever come close to my Emmons SKH in any way shape or form, including my Franklin, which I sold.

Again, just my 2 cents.

Any Emmons players want to chime in that'll be great.

Al, I too owned a Franklin. It was a good guitar but not as good as a Pre RP Mullen. Had I never played a Mullen I might of had a diff. opinion. I will say the Franklin played and sounded as good as any Carter I ever owned !

Put what you think is the top 3 or 4 steels in an ad
then put a Franklin in an Ad see which gets the most comments or inquiries.....Emmons are great sounding guitar, but when you get wear on them..... and Mullen?
a cpl yrs ago I remember one Mullen that a lady bought brand new sold it LESS than 2 months after she bought it,the guy who bought it ALSO sold it pretty quick....

I played a Franklin about 25 years ago. The mechanics felt great, but the detuning, when I used pedals or knee levers, was pretty frustrating.
