To quote Jeff Newman, "That would bring
a tear to a glass eye"

Lloyd, if you are reading this thread,
you are incredible.

What a pleasure to hear "Wish Me Away". This is maybe the best combination of PSG complimenting voice I have heard in some time.
I can't think of superlatives that are sufficient to describe how much I enjoyed Lloyd's playing. The intro notes, then all the great fills, and finally, the solo at the end for a full minute.
(The link on MySpace seems to be working better today - got to hear it twice!)

As I indicated in the starting message of this thread the tune is available on a compilation CD <a href=http://redbeetrecords.com/main.php?em18 ... tent2">The Other Side: Music From East Nashville</a> on Red Beet Records. It is a for-charity compilation which benefits the Martha O’Bryan Center in East Nashville. The Center offers employment and education services to the neediest of the community’s residents, so not only would you get this fine tune but a lot of interesting new music, and help a fine cause.<font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 17 October 2006 at 06:14 AM.]</p></FONT>

Works every time I click on it now. Wierd!

That is some very serious pedal steel playing!

Me too! I just heard it four times in a row! In Firefox! Hallelujah!
It only gets better, if anything, with repeated listenings. Lloyd Green's playing truly exists on a higher plane--and to me this track is his finest yet.
And it should be noted that the song itself, and Chely's performance, are superb as well.

WOW! Now that was special! Would like to have this as a 320k MP3 download. You could probably charge more for this one with billing Chely Wright w/Lloyd Green. I consistantly pay up to $4 per song at one site. I would pay that for this.

Lloyd's tone on this recording reminds me of the "Ten Shades of Green" album, which has long been one of my favorites. Man, the combination of Lloyd's playing and that Show-Pro steel guitar is a perfect match! <font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This message was edited by Lem Smith on 18 October 2006 at 10:16 AM.]</p></FONT>

I find it amusing that more people want to hear this for Lloyd than anything else .....

well, it is the Steel Guitar Forum after all...

I think there's a discussion over on the Attractive Young Female Singer-Songwriter Forum as well, but they haven't mentioned Lloyd yet Image

Hey Barry-some of those professional shots of Chely on her website-she is strikingly beautiful!

Great steel and a beautiful woman-nice combination.

Oh yeah, she can sing, too...

Wow! This is what made me fall in love with the steel guitar! I remember sitting in my room for hours in the early eighties as a teeneager, backing up the old record needle over and over and trying to copy Lloyd's licks and style. Now at 42, I've been sitting at my computer since 4:00 AM while the family sleeps, clicking and dragging and still trying to get that sound, haha!

This is pure E9 at it's best! Thanks for sharing this clip.

Great playing and super job on the recording mix. I found that if I click the play button once, it always plays but sometimes there is a 3 or 4 minute buffering delay.

Mark - I've actually had the pleasure of backing her up more than once, and she's just as attractive in person. I got 'stuck' with having to duplicate the ride in 'Single White Female,' not one of my favorite solos. Wish I could have been given something like Lloyd's current solo to play...

I guess I'm lucky.I got it to play for me and I have listened to it over and over, and I can't get over the steel.Great, and by the way.
she should be in the top ten in beautiful people (women) in Nashville if you ask me,plus she has a great voice..I will continue to listen to that song daily....thanks for the heads up

I grabbed the 2 CD album from Red Beet, there are some other interesting tunes on it. Only one or two zingers depending on who is doing the counting. That one dude must have been bored as all hell if he had enough time on his hands to write a song about Strom Thurman.

Well worth the price of admission at 15 bucks just to hear Chely and Lloyd. There is a decent cut from Liz Cook as well, not sure who her steel player is but he did a nice job!

Disc two has a few nice tunes by Kieran Kane, Garrison Starr, Sergio Webb, Jennifer Nicely, Circus Dog Serenade, somtimes pedalist Rich Gilbert, and The Skylighters (who include Mike Auldridge and Jimmy Gaudreau.

The album has plenty of steel, pedal steel, dobro, and slide throughout. 31 tunes in all, I like it!

Lloyd, that's a majestic piece of solo steel at the end of the song.....wonderfully executed. I agree with Josh - you must be really beating off the groupies at the sessions! Image

Played the first time for me, she's gotten some 700 spins today alone, and it's only 3:15. That is some really, really sweet playing no doubt about it. Thanks for letting us know about it Dave.

Maybe you have to have a T3 connection or try when MySpace isn't quite so busy.

I think my page got about 10 plays today...
Good for Chely and Lloyd.

Lloyd, you should have your own myspace page. I'd set it up for you no problem. All you need is a bio, photos, and 4 song samples. I'm sure we'd all enjoy that.

Wow.

I nominate Walter S. to get Lloyd's Myspace goin' on!
