Out on the West Coast you'll find Lorene Ruymar and her husband Art, as well as John Fatiaki.

Just in passing, (no pun intended), perhaps one of Canada's finest was (the late) Jack Mooney of Winnipeg. He was a very fine jazz (pedal) steel guitarist, however prior to his switching to pedals, in his early years he played some really hot swinging Hawaiian ! His talent was a sad loss.

John Kavanagh ::: Yes indeed, 'Jr' is the son of Billy Reid Sr who was affectionately known as "Canada's Dean of Hawaiian Music"...and rightly so. Billy Sr had a long running radio show, (about 35 years) called "Hawaiian Rendezvous" originating out of Halifax on the CBC Trans Canada Network and also the local radio stations in that area. He was a prince of a man whom I'll always remember and admire. He composed many, many, many songs over his long career, many of which I happily collaborated with him on lyrics and/or music.

May I mention Smokey Fennell? Smokey is a transplated California-type playing his Carter (and banjo)with the Alberta-based Danny Hooper Show (Honky Tonk Heros). The Hooper Show has been playing the Orleans Hotel and Casino for several years during National Rodeo Finals and I look forward to listening to Smokey and the group again this year - Let me add that not only is he a great PSG player - he is a true gentleman and ALWAYS finds time to chat with our little group of fans during breaks.

Hello from Lethbridge.
John Lacey and "Smokey" Fennel are two pickers I get to hear often. I enjoy them every time!

Are any of you playing in that area at that time?
Would be nice to get to hear som steel-playing while I'm there.....

Well I've been called many things but never a steel player. Image How about associate members such as Fred Lawrence (My father) Len MacDonald, Bob MacDonald.
