I'll ask again....

Ron is only saying that Bobbe was nominated (just as dozens of other players were nominated this year). I'm sure he has been nominated in years past....everyone is carrying on as though he has been inducted (which we won't know until the ISGC)....

Joe A. We don't know if Bobbe will be inducted or not. This is his first time being nominated. Obviously the rest of us feel that it is an HONOR to be nominated for the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.

CONGRATULATIONS BOBBE!!!!! AGAIN!!!!
[This message was edited by Ron Kirby on 20 July 2006 at 07:01 AM.]

How can anyone say for sure this is the first time he had been nominated? The nominating process is open to anyone and everyone, and has been for a long time. He could have been nominated each year for the past 20 years for all we know....

Everybody is carrying on as though he was actually inducted Image
I could nominate myself, if I wanted to. Image

Bobbe will be inducted in the SGHOF someday.

He deserves it for sure.

BUT it is still a great honor to be Nominated by your Peers, which should still be appreciated...al Image Image

Joe A,

Please calm down and don't distract from the pleasure the rest of us are feeling and trying to express to our good friend! As Ron has pointed out to you, we are aware that the only thing confirmed is Bobbe's nomination.

The people posting on this thread are offering congrats on his nomination,......including myself!

Let's review. He's a Master Builder of steel guitars; renowned recording artist who's also paid his dues on the road; one of the most talented steel guitarists I can name, be it on E9, C6, or any other tuning you can think of, Thumbstyle guru, no pedals, no knees, no problem. Flawless performances and unique style on 6 strings to 12 strings and anything in between. His popular instructional tapes and videos have taught countless players from beginner to professional, including steel guitar maintenance and care. He's an outspoken and influential critic whose advice is continually sought by many, many of us. He's always willing to help any player with any problem, treats everyone with the same respect regardless of skill level or musical style. Bobbe's store has been a Mecca for steel guitarists for a couple of decades or longer. His business ethic is above reproach. Just about every steel guitarist on the planet either knows him or has heard of him, and he's a friend to all. Have I left anything out? I can think of few who can match these accomplishments.
Congratulations on the nomination Bobbe. Your place in Steel Guitar history and culture was long ago assured, my friend. The Hall Of Fame is where you belong.
[This message was edited by Kenny Drake on 20 July 2006 at 10:38 AM.]

Joe - relax.... Image

This is a big deal to be nominated.

I have known and dealt with Bobby for about 20 yrs... perhaps the more you get to know him you will realize that this is a big deal and he is deserving.

You could nominate yourself but then how deserving are you? Image Image LOL

Take care - - see you in St Louis!

Not trying to distract from anything, my friend. And I am quite calm, thanks! It just seems peculiar there is this much celebration over a nomination...I could send in 20 nominations for 20 different steel players right now....but that's all it is, a nomination. The cause for celebration is when someone gets inducted, IMO.

I can guarantee you this is not his first nomination. Everyone is carrying on as if the ISGC board has selected him for the HOF. This hasn't happened.....yet.

Does Bobbe really care if he is inducted or not? Sure its an honour, but its one that has political factors. There are a number of people who fully justify being inducted but year on year are excluded. I guess Bobbe is just one of these, but I am sure he doesn't lose sleep over it. He will still continue to promote the instrument regardless. I have found the absence of both Bobbe and Maurice Anderson from the SGHOF to be mystifying to say the least.
[This message was edited by Ken Byng on 21 July 2006 at 04:25 AM.]

Now take a look at Kenny Drake's post. What a resume!!!

Clearly, Bobbe Seymour is one of the most accomplished Steel Guitar Professionals, ever!!

To Wit: I don't know of a better communicator of the Steel Guitar world than Bobbe. Look at his web site, On-line Steelguitar Radio and most of all, his "Bobbe Tip's" web news on just about everything you can think of on being a professional musician or about Steel Guitar.

Now on top of that, the man is a pilot who flys to perform at Steel Guitar shows! Further, he is type rated on a P51 Mustang WW2 fighter plane!! Quite an accomplishment! While this has little to do with Steelguitar, it exemplifies the wide scope of the mans interest's.

IMHO: I would say that Bobbe Seymour is a true "Renaissance Steel Guitar Man".

I sure hope his dedication and accomplishments are recognized by his peers. TX

Rgds,

Ron

I was just informed by a member of the SGHOF committee that this is, in fact, the very first time that Bobbe has been nominated (which, quite honestly, is a shock to me). Considering the yearly nominations that went out for Red Rhodes from me and others, I would have thought Bobbe's fans/friends would have been doing the same for him.

Especially considering this is bordering on three pages of "congrats" posts, I'm surprised none of you guys had nominated him in past years. What's the story there? Any/all of you can do it! Image

Maybe this is why Maurice isn't in yet.....pages of people complaining he's not in there, but nobody submitting the paperwork to do it Image

Anyhoo....I would like to offer Bobbe my congrats for being nominated for the first time. Image
[This message was edited by Joe Alterio on 20 July 2006 at 05:33 PM.]

..geez, miss a couple days from the Forum and the world leaves you behind....You've always been in my "Good Human Being Hall of Fame", Bobbe, so a big congratulations on your nomination to the SGHOF. That would be enough to make me go to St. Louis.

Congratulations, Bobbe! It is very obvious here by all who support your nomination for induction to the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame that you are most deserving. What an honor! Looking forward to congratulating you on your induction soon! God Bless!
