I feel doubly fortunate to be playing a new year's eve eve gig on the 30th at Ashland Coffee & Tea in Ashland Va, and a NYE gig the 31st at iota in Arlington VA. But I'm driving several hours to get to the gigs.

I think for the next New Year’s Eve someone should set up a Special Steel~Show and invite anyone without a booking to take part! This could be done in several parts of the country so that travel could be kept to a minimum. A new Steel Guitar Club could also be formed and perhaps called “The O.T.H.A.”. [The Over~The~Hill Association] There are probably as many ‘non-working’ as ‘working’ steel players nowadays! I are one!

We'll be doing our annual American Legion gig with my old band. Classic country at it's best...featuring songs of Buck Owens, Ray Price, Merle Haggard, Faron Young, Patsy Cline, Webb Pierce, Porter Waggoner, Marty Robbins, and well...you get the idea!

I'm working and Herby isn't. That's just wrong. When one of the Greatest has to sit home on NYE and those of us that don't qualify to carry his case are working, somethings wrong.
