I'm pretty sure that the Blues Brothers scene was shot at the Palomino in North Hollywood. I gigged there once in 1986, they still had the chicken wire up. We also didn't have any country music in our repertoir at that time, and had to pull a few standards out of the hat that night. Noone was injured. [/i]

Indeed they were: http://www.rockandrollroadmap.com/holly ... adium.html

Opened in 1940, this venue has seen everything from Frank Sinatra to the Pornographic Film industry's Awards show.

"In the 60's, when large venue owners weren't sure that " hippie" music would make them any money, this was the largest hall in Los Angeles that allowed bands like The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, The Who and others to play. It remained a well used concert site because it did not have built-in seats, so that it allowed dancing and promoters could pack them in. The Blues Brothers concert sequences were filmed here. Even stranger, the owner throughout the the 60's and 70's was none other than that rocker, Lawrence Welk. He broadcast his show from this location for many years. Wunnerful, wunnerful." :)

It looks like that last concert scene from the movie Blues Brothers was indeed filmed there.
From the wiki site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Palladium
The Hollywood Palladium has been featured in many movies over the years. Some of these are:
The Concert Scene at the end of the The Blues Brothers (1980), as the 'Palace Hotel Ballroom' (The exterior was actually the South Shore Country Club in Chicago, IL)

That was that last scene with the "3 Orange Whips..."
I wonder where the interior shots/footage from Bob's bar was filmed?

In the 70's in a little place called "The Rebel Yell" in Birch River, WV, we were the last band to play there before the chicken wire went up.
I'll never forget the skull of the steer that was centered on the wall over the bar. It had a hole in the center of the forehead and someone had taken paint and dripped red down its face. Second set everyone was having a good time when a drunk wanted to come up on stage and sing. We saw our expensive equipemnt being in real danger so we politely refused. A hush fell over the place. Calling for a quick break to regroup the owner pulled us aside and told us to pack up quick.
Our base player got seperated from us and met drawn pisotls in the parking lot. We hi-tailed it out of there in one piece much to our relief. We heard the chicken wire was up by the next weekend.
