Sent $50.00 to Buddy, yesterday. Would have liked to have donated more.......but, I'm not exactly rolling in money, right now.
A very sickening & disturbing thing...that has happened to Buddy. He's a Pedal Steel Legend...& I'm proud to call him my friend, as well.
Kevin, Thanks for starting this Fund/Relief Effort!!

My check for $50. is in the mail. Sorry for the delay but I was hoping Buddy would borrow my MSA!!Any news yet? I would have hoped to hear they recovered something by now. I know the feeling ;somebody stole my Gibson EB-2C back when I was a bass player and no axe since ever felt the same. It's a great loss.

While it's great that the members of this forum are pitching in to get Buddy Cage new gear, I'm sure that what he would really like is his own guitar back.
I have twice been ripped off while on the road (Atlanta & Houston). Nobody could believe it, but both times through persistance I found and recovered the gear.
With the word about his gear spread by this forum, it would be possible for his gear to be found if many forum members searched for it. It could be in any pawn shop on the east coast, or the whole country for that matter.
If everybody made it a practice to call their local pawn shops and let it be known that they were in the market for a PSG (leave your phone number), you never know what might turn up.
Regards,
HH

I have been out of the Country-but was in touch with Buddy while all this was going on. He is truly stunned by the effort everyone is making on his behalf. I've already gotten involved on this end. Alas, it's quite likely that this was some crackheads who threw anything they couldn't sell right away in the river. What's worse is that Buddy's gear was so heavily modified that they probably got next to nothing for it. His amp for example, had no speakers, and from what I understand, the cabs got left behind. Hot, the stomp boxes probably had little or no value, and the steel is probably unsaleable due to it's one of a kind nature-you'd get caught, or need a highly specialized buyer privately-like Buddy. A damn shame, but what's going on here is truly remarkable.

Update. I have a call into one of the steel manufacturers for Buddy to get a 14 string universal made for the $2000.00 we raised. I asked Buddy what he really wanted and that was his choice. I explained the distress circumstances and he is considering a charity/endorsement arrangement. I'll know definitely Monday. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Dave, Buddy left for Nashville today. He has been lent a single neck Emmons and is taking it to Ron Lashley for adjustment. I have an agreement for a 14 string universal from one of the steel makers. Its a generous and charitable offer far below retail value. I'll need about $450.00 more to do it. When Buddy gets back on the 23rd we are going to talk more.

Kevin,
Put me in for $50 too. I remember when I was just 18 years old, Buddy was touring with the NRPS and the Dead and spent the day listening to him, Garcia, Weir and others jamming at Scotty's store. What a mind-blowing experience. Buddy was so kind to offer me two free backstage passes to their concert that night and we went and felt sooo special! So this is a small way of returning the favor, many years later. Thanks, Buddy!
