Not a bad idea Chas, but both times I have been back in that town, I have seen her walking down the street with my arm slung over her shoulder like an axe handle. She had a sign on it saying "baby why you been gone so long" on one side and "lookin' for my sweet lovin' man on the other. That is reminder enough

Harold, actually I had a similar experience, that I'm not going to relate here, suffice it to say, it cured me from getting drunk in public.

This wouldn't be appropriate if it weren't so completely true.

I got invited out to the parking lot for a drink by a nice young lady, cute as a button.
She sat in the car and made me a drink while I waited by the car door. I took a swallow and choked and coughed till my eyes almost popped out. To make matters worse I tried to explain by saying: You'll have to excuse me, it's been along time since I've had any of the hard stuff.

She replied: Yeah, me too !!

That utopia is all around you - even in New England. I put in my time with John Lincoln Wright as a Sourmash Boy in the early 80s, so trust me, I know what I'm talking about. And yes, you will play "Devil" and "OBS" as well as the big outro to "Mountain Music". You will play them every show and you will love the response (and the action) you get. Hey, the poor steeler has to play "Steel Guitar Rag" and has to be happy just to get paid, forget about laid.
If you still don't believe me, go rent the video of Garth Brooks' concert in Ireland - the one where 300,000 people bought tickets and Trisha Yearwood is one of his backup singers. Watch his fiddle player work the crowd from the apron of that stage. Then watch the steel player, when the camera bothers to settle on him, sitting like a lump lost in the middle of that huge stage while all the fun and energy goes swirling on around him. Now....about the differing views concerning the heartfelt truth told to us all, by Ret Cop: Personally, I've never known him to mislead, much less, lie, ever before on this Forum. He's NEVER EVER lied to me!! I saw many "possible truths"....in his explanation
and therefore, I lean toward the man's honesty during years gone by. One has but to step back a few paces and review each of his comments and you can see the truth rushing forth. I can't help but believe one or more of those explanations has been used by other dedicated musicians......Being a hard working musician is a tough job but thank goodness some of us have stuck with it right thro' those very trying times. Ret Cop, you're one heck of a guy. I'd be proud to have you as my nabor. Wish I had known you years ago, but since there was no Forum for us to share and learn from, it's all b0b's fault. Have a happy Holiday Season!
