"It was the ACM, not CMA awards".

I stand corrected. However, it's still a showpiece for the SAME ARTISTS ALL OF THE TIME! None of them country. Well, maybe Brad Paisley and Alan Jackson. They don't bother to televise the real country artists. i.e. Ray Price.

"The Academy of country music picked these awards, not the fans.
CMA awards are picked by the fans".
(Theresa Galbraith)

With all due respect,This is a complete fallacy! There's not an awards show in existence where the fans actually get to vote for their favorite artist! They're given a choice of 4 or 5 artists and told to pick one of them! The country artists that I wanna' vote for don't appear on the ballot. Notice I said "Country Artists".

Hunks and babes - that's what it's all about. Image and attitude are everything, while music is secondary. By the way, I love reading all you guys have to say about the sad state of country music nowadays. I feel the same about rock 'n' roll. I keep telling people that rock died back in 1974 (the last good year for rock music). There wasn't much happening after that.

I thought that you had to be a member of CMA in order to vote for the already chosen "nominees".

Well, I guess maybe this thread has went far enough. I appreciate all the input and concern about "Country Music". The band I am a part of had two one nighter's this week, two good crowds, and a lot of George Srrait, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, Willie. A lot of it was by request, so I feel better, got it of my chest, lookin' forward to next weekend and to hell with a bunch of so called awards. Thanks again, Doyle

I must of tore a gut muscle watching Kenny Chesney totally lock up and make a complete a$$ out of himself.I Haven't laughed like that in a long time.If Bob Wills was watching from the heavens I wonder if he laughed.I'm sure Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith have great steel players in there band but,I'm so sick of those two guys makes me wanna puke.My 2 cents.Tony

The part I thought was funny is at the end of "Stay All Night" Kenny Chesney says over the mic "Man, I love that song". Like someone's gonna forgive him for screwing up because he "loves that song".

I couldn't believe that he missed those lyrics. Since he's one of the worlds highest paid karaoke singers, you would think by now he could read the lyrics off the TV screen at his feet.

Theresa, statements like the above one will make you go cross-eyed, lose your hair AND could possibly cause a short term liking to rap and techno music. Image

Compared to the ACM awards show, the Willie Nelson and Friends debacle that's on the USA Network now looks like real country! Image There's more inspiration, life, and feeling than anything I saw on the awards show. Image

My take is as follows:
1) Nice implants, Reba.
2) Brooks & Dunn won, AGAIN. There's a surprise!
3) While I like Alan Jackson, isn't "Where Were You..." over a year old? If so, how could it win as a best new song?
4) Willie Nelson's show last night on USA was much better, it actually had real music played by real musicians. They and the show were not perfect, but that is real life.
5) The CMAs bite it.
