Back about ‘94, I was touring with a country band from Alberta in Linz Austria and we had a gig there at a trucker festival under a huge tent. Bunch of European country bands and us. Great but bizarre vibe, European’s take on American country lifestyle. Went to the can and there standing at the urinal was a guy in full Confederate officers uniform, complete with sword and hat. The bands themselves were quite good but our 8 piece band didn’t go over that well, unlike most of the venues in Germany. We struck up OBS as the finale with 2 hot fiddlers finishing at warp speed level and massively pissed off the dancers who booed us walking off the dance floor.

My favorite fans at German country music festivals were the American Indian Enthusiasts, who would set up a village of colorful tepees next to their fleet of Mercedes-Benz sedans, and dress in feathers, headdresses, and warpaint while drinking heap plenty fire water.

Strange....

High Times Magazine Xmas party in the mid 1980's.
Nuff said, except that I think we had a great time.

My second strangest gig was when I played at a club in Nome Alaska for the Iditarod,I was set up at the right end of the stage and a woman had brought her pet reindeer in on a leash three years old ,This animal came right up to me and started licking my picking hand,we became friends.
