Why selling your Carters?!

I sold my Carter D-10 because I just got a Carter SD-10 for live gigs, and I found a Sho~Bud D-10 that I'd rather have as my home guitar. The Carter D-10 is a great sounding and playing guitar, it's just circumstances. I think a lot of private sales on the forum are due to changing personal preferences and particular life circumstances. Carters are a great choice for a used guitar. They hold up over the years.

Some guys just get caught up in buying and selling steel guitars and don't stop to learn how to play the thing. I've owned two Carter guitars and can tell you from experience there's nothing wrong with that guitar be-it tone, playability, nothing at all. The guitar fits me perfectly the way I got it and it was a used guitar. Both of them were used guitars and one without the BCT and it was still a great guitar. I prefer the one with BCT for tone and sustain but they are both good guitars. I took it out tonight and played the Nashville Palace and had Rusty Rhodes as the sound man. Some of you know Rusty as a great steel player and he is. He told me that the Carter sounded great from one end of the neck to the other. That's what you want to hear when you're a steel player, good feedback from another steeler that knows his stuff. All I can say is if everybody is selling their Carters, it's not because of the tone or the playability and sure not the weight. They may have not kept it long enough to find out what it can sound like.

The Carter was by far my favourite of all the new steels I tried at the convention.

I have owned 3 Carter D10s. including my current 04..9+8..( Black)

I'd be happy to sell it to any of you for a nominal price..but I would replace it with another Carter...

You would be getting a GREAT Steel..and I would be getting yet another GREAT Steel...

and the cycle would continue...

I wonder if anyone asked E why he is not playing his Legrande anymore...

Nothing wrong with a Carter guitar. It's just a matter of personal taste. I believe it would be hard to actually find a new guitar, regardless of the brand, that wasn't a good one today. There's several builders building fine guitars.

Dear steelers!

Didn´t think that I would get so much replies to my topic! And you are all right with what you say. Everyone has different opinions and that´s good so. What I can read here is mostly good about "Carters". And that´s absolutely my opinion about my Carter. I love it, but I have this "GAS" syndrom too, to want to try other guitars from time to time.

Mr. Ed Shimkus, you´re absolutely right with what you said. No one in the crowd can hear or see the differences in steelguitars. And you are also right, that everyone has different preferences what steel he or she likes. But I think it´s an adventure that will never end..... and it´s good so

))

yeah, i never see bitchin cars like mine for sale....that's why i'm hangin on to my 4 cylinder mustang II with dual fuzzy dices!!

I owned a U12 and it was a great sounding and playing guitar. My problem was the woman I had to deal with at Carter.
It don't get any better than Bud Carter. BUT!!!!Whoever the woman, I ordered my pedal kit from at Carter, needs a lesson in in customer service.
They don't get anymore of my money. I sold my Carter.
