How 'bout to get a free trip to a beautiful country, and play music to people that love country music ?

I saw these guys in Perth Western Australia last night and they were amazing. Ain't never heard such a thing - big hats and nudie suits playing country-jazz fusion like it was a prize fight between George Benson and Steeley Dan - it was brilliant. Will - I could see - was having some trouble with the sound guy, but rest assured it came through OK (the sound could have been a bit better from a steel players perspective at times) and sounded really good. We don't get a lot of steel playing round these parts, and when someone good comes to town it knocks peoples socks off.
Will also did a set with Josh Hedley which just vapourised my socks. The event was an "alt country showcase" but there was nothing alt about Josh & Will's set, it was straight down the middle totally convincing nail-your-head-to-the-floor country. Beautifully executed. Will's playing was all the more remarkable as he was basically standing in with a tour mate.
Will is a super nice guy, and took some time with me talking guitars, pickups, our love of Anapegs and other stuff - I felt like I was talking to an old friend. Lovely to meet you man.
Check out the Robert Ellis and Perfect Strangers show when and wherever you can. You cannot possibly be disappointed.
