Tommy is also the same wonderful human being no matter what brand of guitar he is playing. Doesn't get any better than Tommy, musically or personally.

We're so very fortunate to have the recordings of Tommy and so many other Masters of Steel Guitar. The many, many hours of woodshedding and just pure musical talent come through so clearly in watching Tommy's mastery of both front/back necks. Thanks to all who are posting these videos. Thanks for the inspiration Tommy. Carl

STOP THE PRESSES! First clip, "Limehouse Blues" - 1:12 - a D'Angelico BEATLE BASS? PRE-Oriental D'... five-string?!? Pitter-patter. Yah, the steel thingamajig player guy's O.K. too - I have Sir White's "old" MSA SuperSlide, and last week I finally found one of the notes he left on it!* but WTF? Sell bass -> me, I steal -> what you want....

Just super playing Tommy! I might add a top flight band also. That Sierra sounded real good too. May I ask what type of amplification you were using? T.L.

From 1995 thru 2000, when I toured with Ty Herndon, we often played on The Nashville Network's Prime Time Country. Those shows were always the highlight of all our touring gigs because it always meant I'd be able to see and hear Tommy play; and, as time allowed, visit and talk with him briefly. Very often, when it was time for us to play, I'd be lost in the reverie of just having heard Tommy play only to hear our drummer clicking the count with his sticks and suddenly jolt myself to the present to kick off the song. Then, as much as I loved playing, I couldn't wait for our song to end so I could hear Tommy play again as their band kicked off commercial break music as we ended our tune.

Speaking with Tommy was sheer delight; the man is the epitome of what a true gentleman should be; his character is of the finest quality and caliber I've ever known. And his musicianship? Unparalleled. From the time he was a youngster with that weird hairdo (just kidding, Tommy) to present day, I have silently followed and admired his amazing career. Without doubt, he is one of the greatest living legends of our time. The perfect incarnation of touch, tone, taste and intonation, Tommy's style is his own; each note he plays is always the perfect note for the instant and everything in his playing is a profound musical statement and never a string of nondescript notes or ghastly scales. I like to think of Tommy as the Mozart of pedal steel and my respect and admiration for him is absolutely top of the pyramid.

I could listen to Tommy play for hours. I have one of his instructional DVD's and really enjoy learning from it but also enjoy just simply listening. I hope to get to meet him some day. I read or heard somewhere that Buddy Emmons calls him "The Monster". That's quite a complement coming from someone like Buddy Emmons.

Seeing Tommy Live is ON my Bucket List!

I saw Tommy play in St. Louis at the NSGC (pre(ISGC) when he was somewhere between 13---15 years of age. His playing at that age was already really great.

If you find Vince Moreno playing in Nashville, good chances you will see Tommy.
Both are class acts.

Tommy is not only a great player, but a nice guy too. Both of them make a great team for music.

How do I get Tommys schedule. Going to Nashville this month.

I got a chance one night to hear Tommy play at the station Inn and he was playing a push pull Emmons his dad built for him and man what tone with he had with that Emmons and a DD3 and the Nashville 112 . Folks I think it was 8 and 4 and he never missed a lick on any songs.My hats off to him.
