The "hill williams" thing is great. Many of these names are damn good. I grew up on Dayton,Ohio and the border state folks were not hill billies. They were known as Brier Hoppers, which translated to French would be something like ronceverte de jumpe se qua. So, how can were recontexctualize Briar Hopper into a hill williams. p.s. the two spellings of Briar/Brier reflect regional customs.
