I recently got the rackmount unit. After trying several different 12†speakers (yeah, I like the way they sound), I settled on a Peavey 1203 Black Widow in a cabinet I originally built for a.15†speaker. The Steelaire head and that speaker in the larger cabinet is a killer combination.
